Ayurveda is more than 10,000-year-old holistic healing tradition and art of appropriate living from India. According to a recent World Health Organization report, Ayurveda’s current form took shape between the fifth century BC and the fifth century AD. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means the “Science of Life” and is associated with the sacred texts, the Veda’s.
Ayurveda’s philosophy is based on the theory of “Pancha Maha Bhuta’s”, the five elemental constructing materials of creation. These elements are: ether, air, fire, water and earth. Their qualities express as each individual’s unique constitutional nature. Relationship of the individual to the environment and the environment to the individual is studied in Ayurveda with a goal to restore physical, emotional and spiritual harmony, a truly holistic approach to health and the prevention of disease.
