Abhyanga Seminar With Colleen Fraser and Jacinta Mousset-Jones

July 30 & 31, 2005

What is Abyanga?

Abhyanga is the Sanskrit word for oil massage given to the entire body, head to toe using oils most suited to individual needs. Although this Ayurvedic routine takes only about 1/2 hour. When it is performed habitually the results are multi-dimensional, for example the skin becomes more lustrous, physical and psychological tensions are eased through the warmth of touch and one feels protected, calm and grounded.

Over time, Abhyanga’s benefits include awareness, resolve of our negative karmas and deep emotional issues. Gradually, the spirit can be restored to its original state of freedom and lightness and we evolve.

Overall, the Abhyanga is satisfying when done alone or with two practitioners. Like yoga, the benefits must be experienced.

Effects & Benefits

Abhyanga nourishes the skin and gradually the tissues beneath. With habitual use of Theraputic Ayurvedic massage, each of the dhatus is nourished, oleated and replenished. "Dhatus" are the 7 body tissue levels that create structure and provide for psycological functions.
